Therapeutic Massage and Aromatherapy
with Valerie (ITEC)
Therapeutic massage
involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body
to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress
to promote health and well-being by improving the function of the
circulatory, lymphatic, musculoskeletal, and nervous systems. Massage
may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and
illness. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils taken from plants,
flowers, seeds etc., to restore or enhance mental, emotional or
physical health. These essential oils are usually mixed specifically
for each client, diluted with base oil and applied to the skin during
massage, which typically lasts from 30-60 minutes and is always
preceded by a short consultation. Valerie is a fully qualified ITEC
Aromatherapist.
Osteopathy
with Elaine Dayaram B(Ost) Osteopathy
Osteopathy is an established
system of diagnosis and manual treatment, recognised by the British
Medical Association and is complementary to other medical disciplines.
It is unique in that mechanical, functional, postural and lifestyle
factors are all taken into consideration when making a diagnosis.
Initial consultations last approximately 45 minutes and follow-up
treatments 30 minutes. Treatment is non-prescriptive and is tailored
to suit the individual patient. Not just for bad backs, osteopathy
can treat a wide variety of both short and long term problems, including
sports injuries, ailments during pregnancy, whiplash, headaches,
frozen shoulder, arthritic pain, work-related and repetitive strain
injuries, problem periods, asthma.... to name but a few. Elaine
Dayaram B(Ost) Osteopathy, graduated from the British School of
Osteopathy and is a member of the General Osteopathic Council, the
British Osteopathic Association and the Guild of Postnatal Exercise
Teachers. Elaine has had over 11 years experience in the health
and fitness industry. She can also be contacted at www.insideoutbodysolutions.com.
Shiatsu Therapy with Debbie Moon
Shiatsu, literally
translated, means 'finger pressure' and is a deep tissue massage
therapy, which can be targeted at general areas or specific points.
This technique is used in conjunction with stretches, joint rotations
and joint manipulations to give a holistic treatment, bringing together
mind, body and spirit. Contacting the recipient's Ki, or internal
energy, is an integral part of the treatment. Treatment is carried
out fully clothed, usually with the recipient lying or sitting on
a futon on the floor. A typical treatment will last 30-40 minutes,
although shorter treatments can also be beneficial. Shiatsu can
benefit conditions such as postural, musculoskeletal and stress-related
illness and emotional problems. Debbie Moon has more than 13 years
experience as a Shiatsu Therapist.
Acupuncture
with Eileen Reynolds BSc(Hons) A.R.C.S., MSc Lic. Ac.
Eileen practises
a form of Acupuncture called five element acupuncture. Each branch
of acupuncture has its own approach to diagnosis. In five element
acupuncture, diagnosis is based upon an understanding that each
one of us has a particular relationship with one element, our constitutional
or guardian element. This element gives our life a certain emphasis,
making some of us more serious or light-hearted, others more determined
or anxious. It is this element which takes the brunt of the stress
we are suffering, revealing its unease through physical and emotional
signs of imbalance. The acupuncturist inserts a fine needle just
below the surface of the skin to stimulate points lying along pathways
of energy – meridian pathways - that run throughout the body.
The action of the needle adjusts the flow of energy through the
pathways, stimulating and balancing the patient’s own energy
and restoring health. You should allow 2hrs for a first appointment
and approximately 1hr for follow-up appointments.
